Do you have a detailed detailed drawing I could buy. I have to interpolate, guess the proportions from your pictures and am afraid of making errors in my nice chunk of maple.

    Thanks jim Bailey

Thanks for your reply Daniel. First question is what went wrong with the pickup assembly as illustrated (aluminum tube with pickup inside) and how did you solve it?—something about a brass bar sandwich which I can’t quite picture. Two; What are the dimensions of the window cutout for the tuners, its distance from the end of the uke. and the thickness and length of the center finger. Three: what do you think of using a combination end button-1/4″jack?

    Thanks, Jim

Hi Daniel! I love your blog and thank you so much for all the wonderful ideas, plans, tips, tricks, etc. that you so generously share with us. I actually wrote to you before about problems I was having with an electric travel uke that I was making with magnetic pickups. You were kind enough to give me some good encouragement. I haven’t solved them yet on that uke, but I’ll get back to it. In the Meantime, I made an electric uke for my sister based on these plans. I did an intarsia Laughing Kookaburra on the body. My sister’s name is Nancy Laffin so I call the instrument The Laffin Ukeburra. Here is an album that includes some photos and a super short video of my husband playing a couple of cords:

      Hello again Sharon,

That is such a wonderful instrument. That is a very impressive intarsia. I have a friend that does some intarsia, and have talked about the process with him.

Do you mind if I share a couple of the pictures on the Circuits and Strings Facebook page?

Hi Daniel, That would be lovely! Share any that you like. I so appreciate all the help you’ve given me via your videos and plans! Making your travel uke caused me to be bit by the uke-making bug and now I’m a crazy ukulele maker.
