Christmas Carols for Ukulele Orchestra by M. Ryan Taylor

M. Ryan Taylor (of has released a ukulele song book in time for the Christmas season.  This one is specifically written for a ukulele orchestra.  The book has 12 songs and each song is broken into 3 parts.  The first part has the condensed orchestral-style
score (all of the parts together).  The second part is the lyric and rhythm part, and the last part is the separate tablature for all three parts.  This book is definitely great for a ukulele group that wants to push itself to the next level.

Even if you aren’t involved in a ukulele orchestra or group, this is also useful for solo play.  The Christmas songs in this book are all-time classics.

Here are the songs:

  • Away in a Manger
  • Carol of the Bells
  • Deck the Hall
  • God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen
  • Good King Wenceslas
  • Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
  • Jingle Bells
  • Joy to the World
  • Silent Night
  • We Three Kings
  • We Wish You a Merry Christmas!
  • What Child is This?

This book would be perfect for someone wanting to have some fun with multitrack software like Audacity or GarageBand.  Laying down the different tracks with the different parts would be a blast.

Christmas Carols for Ukulele Orchestra is available on Amazon, Sellfy, and CreateSpace.   Get it today!

Builder Highlight – King Uke

I’m starting a feature on this site.  There are a lot of really neat people building instruments and sharing them on the internet.  I watch a lot of YouTube videos and run across some great instruments.  I intend to post a few of my favorite videos from them and give links to their YouTube channels.

This month I want to highlight King Uke from England.  Along with being an instrument builder, he is also a blogger, and a graphic novelist (among other things). Some of his instrument designs really make me mad….mad that I didn’t think of them first. 🙂
